 Lets Not Waste Another Minute...

         In my most humble and passionate opinion, it isn't guns or force that resolve violence and war. It isn't technology that truly heals the broken heart nor even permanently the wounded body. It isn't money which builds communities. And, it isn't external power that makes anything sustainable and good in this world go 'round.

         Lets not waste another minute addressing our most basic and universal needs with what has historically never worked. Lets see what it may really take to heal ourselves, our families, and our society for the better.          

                             The Common Hunger

          Even though I am only 33 years old, I have personally listened to thousands of children, elders, parents, immigrants, & leaders, of all backgrounds. They have all expressed one common hunger: the need to be recognized and accepted for who we are.

         A baby who is fed food but not emotionally recognized and nurtured by affection dies. As adults, our humanity suffer immensely, becoming deprived and twisted into itself when we are not seen and heard and accepted enough. And what of those who are seen the least? Our homeless, our refugees, our fellow beings who kill themselves because the pain they carry alone is far too great and feels  impossible to share.      

                            The Simple & Direct Solution       

         Simply put. Let us recognize  & accept one another and ourselves. Let us listen as fiercely as we have collectively ignored or killed one another. Let us spend as much time tuning in to one another's hearts as we have in the millions of hours we have spent tuning out. Let us acknowledge unflinchingly and embrace the all too familiar light we see in each other's eyes which we have lied about and denied out of a shame we don't even remember how we adopted.

        Come and lets listen together. Lets tell each other what we really feel, want, and dream about. One place I come to listen with a group of people I have come to respect and love dearly is around an incredibly simple idea called Playback Theatre.
